Our History

MacCallum and Associates, PLLC (formerly Cox & MacCallum), began in 2002 when Jim MacCallum took over the law practice of retiring attorney Michael Cox. Beginning as a sole practitioner with only a few employees, Mr. MacCallum has steadily grown the firm. Three attorneys now serve Brunswick County along with numerous staff employees. With offices in Shallotte and Leland, a third office opened in late 2006 in Sunset Beach, North Carolina.

The growth of MacCallum and Associates, PLLC has paralleled the spectacular growth of real estate sales and home construction in Brunswick County. Focusing initially on residential real estate closings, the firm in recent years has added commercial and development work to its areas of practice. These services now comprise the bulk of the firm’s work. Attorneys for the firm also engage in the formation of corporations/LLCs, and the preparation of contracts, deeds and wills.
